Recently, I received an email asking, "Would you please tell me what the healthiest cat food is that you know of? I have been buying bags of kibble at the pet store which is not organic and also feeding human grade frozen shrimp and human grade canned sardines in spring water with no added salt to my cat. I live in Canada and don't know of any organic kibble sold online. I'm also concerned that pollution in the ocean is contaminating the fish. Aside from answering this email to help me with future purchases, perhaps you could put something on your website to educate the others if you have any information to share about healthy choices". Here's my reply. "Thanks for reaching out. As an interspecies communicator my focus and speciality is communication. While I have some training/ background in pet food (coupled with personal experience), I'm not an expert.
Your questions and concerns are valid. Your questions are straightforward ("what is the healthiest cat food you know of?"), yet it depends on how much you (truly) want to know about pet food. There are many different schools of thought around pet food. What is common practice (considered 'normal') doesn't make it a healthy practice. I've listed some resources for you below. Please do your own research and draw your own conclusions. It's a very personal decision. Bottom line, we do the best we can for our animal family members, whether feeding kibble, wet food, or a raw diet.
